Accommodations

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) engages in an interactive process with students to determine reasonable accommodations for students with chronic or temporary disabilities or conditions attending the Yale Law School (YLS). SIS should be the first point of contact about approved or new accommodations.

Students must request accommodations each term. Once approved, SAS will work with YLS in order to coordinate those accommodations. Please note that the designated official will only be aware of your accommodations and will not have access to your disability related information. Additionally, faculty are not notified of approved accommodations except when necessary for an accommodation to be implemented.

It is your responsibility to review the approval letter from SAS with the YLS Registrar's Office to coordinate accommodations, inform the YLS Registrar's Office of course or exam-related changes at least one week/seven days prior to an exam, review YLS exam policies and procedures, and promptly communicate any accommodation concerns to SAS at sas@yale.edu. All non-testing accommodations are coordinated through SAS in collaboration with the YLS Registrar and/or YLS IT.

Additional time for students with extended time and break time will see their adjusted times reflected in YLS:Exams prior to the start of the exam period.

If your approved exam accommodation provides you with additional time and/or reasonable breaks, the tool below can be used to calculate the time you will have to complete your exam(s) and the number of minutes you will have to use for reasonable breaks. We suggest having your accommodation letter from SAS handy for reference when making these calculations.
