Jania Stewart-James is Associate Research Scholar at The Justice Collaboratory. She earned a master's degree in social work from Columbia University with a concentration on policy practice and a focus on contemporary social issues and her bachelor's degree in psychological sciences from the University of Connecticut. There, she completed her undergraduate honor's thesis on the physical and mental health effects of perceived discrimination on African Americans. Stewart-James's research interests include community-based alternatives to incarceration, restorative justice, wealth inequality, and racial justice. She is passionate about ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities for marginalized groups.
