Shannon Sommers

As Community Human Rights Fellow, Shannon Sommers assists the Schell Center in promoting a vibrant human rights community and in developing human rights projects. She is interested in the relationship between human rights and gender justice, particularly in the context of reproductive rights, as well as protections for journalists reporting on human rights issues. Sommers graduated from Yale College in 2022, where she studied Political Science and was a member of the Multidisciplinary Academic Program in Human Rights. During her time as an undergraduate, she worked with the Center for Reproductive Rights in New York, and was involved with political and legal advocacy on campus.
