About NSG

The Yale Law National Security Group is a non-partisan student organization that aims to foster discussion about current issues in national security and foreign policy. In the past, we have held events with many prominent lawyers and experts in national security, including:

  • Avril Haines, former Deputy National Security Advisor
  • Russ Feingold, former U.S. Senator
  • Neil Eggleston, former White House Counsel to President Barack Obama
  • William Burns, former Deputy Secretary of State
  • Tess Bridgeman, former Deputy Legal Advisor to the National Security Council
  • Sarada Peri, former White House speechwriter
  • Mira Rapp-Hooper, Asia Policy Coordinator for the 2016 Hillary Clinton campaign
  • Judge Randolph Moss, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia
  • Monika Bickert, Head of Product Policy and Counterterrorism for Facebook

Our members and alumni have served across the U.S. Government, in the White House and at the Departments of Defense, Justice, State, and Treasury. They have also worked for judges, law firms, news organizations, think tanks, tech companies, and international NGOs.

We welcome new members. If you’d like to be added to our e-mail list, please email maryella.simmons@yale.edu or isa.qasim@yale.edu. And follow us on Twitter @YaleLawNSG!
