Welcome to Yale Law School!

The Capital Assistance Project allows YLS students to provide substantive legal research and writing support for death penalty practitioners around the country. Students gain experience in capital defense and advocacy work while contributing to the anti-death penalty movement.

In recent years, CAP members have worked on projects in partnership with The 8th Amendment Project, the Atlantic Center for Capital Representation, the ACLU Capital Punishment Project, the Center for Death Penalty Litigation, the Louisiana Capital Assistance Center, Reprieve, and the Southern Center for Human Rights.

All CAP projects are appropriate for 1Ls, transfers or LLM students — no experience with legal research or death penalty work needed!

We hope that you will get involved!
