Project Manager, Freedom Reads
Tess Wheelwright is the Project Manager for the Freedom Reads, an initiative headed by the Justice Collaboratory’s Dwayne Betts to connect incarcerated readers into literary communities through access to freedom libraries inside prisons nationwide. Previously, she was the academic director of the Cornell Prison Education Program, an associate degree-granting liberal arts program engaging 200+ students inside four New York state prisons, run out of Cornell University. She also taught writing courses in the prisons, as well as on Cornell’s main campus, where she received her MFA. Her BA in literature is from Yale.
