Response to UN Request for Input on Violence and Discrimination Facing LBQ Women
In late 2025, the United Nations Independent Expert on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity requested input on violence and discrimination facing LBQ women. Requesting input from civil society, governments, and IGO and regional agencies is a part of the independent expert's process of assembling the research to undergird their expert analysis of forms of abuses, barriers to remedies, and ways forward for LBQ women to enjoy their full range of rights. This input will become a thematic report presented at the 62nd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
GHJP used public health data, alongside critical race theory, queer and trans theories, disability justice theory, and feminist theory to inform a presentation of an intersectional approach to understanding violence and discrimination related to gender and sexuality, focusing on Black LBQ people in the context of health justice.
