The Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy at Yale Law School and the Yale Health Law and Policy Society (YHeLPS) hosted three esteemed alumni on Jan. 27 for the Center's 12th annual Health Law and Policy Career Night. The event was generously supported by Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and co-sponsored by the Career Development Office at Yale Law School.

The panel included Carla Cartwright ’00, head of global digital and regulatory policy at Johnson & Johnson; Sarah Grusin ’14, a senior litigation attorney in the National Health Law Program’s North Carolina offices, as well as a student co-founder of YHeLPS and the Solomon Center’s Medical-Legal Partnerships; and Jacob Madden ’22, a healthcare and life sciences associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP’s New York office.

Students heard advice from the panelists on pursuing opportunities in health law.

The speakers described the breadth and nature of their work, discussed how they arrived at their current jobs, and offered advice on the opportunities students should pursue to forge meaningful health law careers. The panelists also encouraged students to take advantage of the wide range of health law and policy offerings at Yale Law School and beyond, which they stressed have expanded exponentially in recent years.

The event concluded with an audience-led Q&A session and time for students to network with the panelists.
