Emily Bazelon ’00 is a Lecturer in Law, Senior Research Scholar in Law, and Truman Capote Fellow at Yale Law School. She is also a staff writer at the New York Times Magazine and author of two national bestsellers, Charged: The Movement to Transform American Prosecution and End Mass Incarceration and Sticks and Stones: Defeating the Culture of Bullying and Rediscovering the Power of Character and Empathy. She co-hosts a popular podcast, the Slate Political Gabfest. Before joining the Times, Bazelon worked for nine years as a senior editor at Slate. She has been a Soros media fellow, an editor and writer at Legal Affairs magazine, and a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Julia Wang ’18 is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Immigrant History Initiative, an organization whose mission is to empower Asian Americans, build empathy for multiple generations of immigrant communities, and foster solidarity to address hate and intolerance. Julia immigrated to the U.S. at age nine. As a child, Julia loved learning history but never saw stories about people like her and her family. She studied History and Economics at Harvard University and received a Gates Scholarship to study and obtain her Masters in History at the University of Cambridge. Since graduating from Yale Law, she has worked as a litigator and at several global nonprofits. Julia has published several articles on immigration and Asian-American identity.
Arthur Ochoa ’95 is the Senior Vice President of Advancement and Chief Advancement Officer for Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Health System. As senior vice president for Advancement, he leads Cedars-Sinai’s external relations including development, community engagement, and marketing/ communications. Cedars-Sinai has raised more than $1 billion in philanthropic support since 2004, when Art was appointed chief development officer. Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai in 2001, Art practiced corporate and tax law at the Los Angeles offices of O'Melveny & Myers LLP and Irell & Manella LLP. Between college and law school, he began his career as an advocate and policy analyst in Washington, D.C.
