Kristine Beckerle ’15 is a lawyer, researcher and writer focused on the application of international human rights law and international humanitarian law in the contemporary Middle East. She is deputy director and head of the Beirut office for Amnesty International's Middle East and North Africa regional office, supervising work on Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, Qatar and Bahrain. Between 2021 and 2023, Kristine was the Cover-Lowenstein Fellow in International Human Rights Law and a Clinical Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School, focusing on reparations for mass violations during war. Kristine previously worked with Human Rights Watch, Mwatana for Human Rights and the UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA). She earned her J.D. from Yale Law School and her A.B. from Harvard University. She lives in Beirut, Lebanon with her partner, their two cats, and set of struggling plants.
