Description

The Capital Assistance Project (CAP) invites you to a Q&A with Kristen Nelson, Director of the Powell Project, an organization that aims to empower defense counsel in trial level capital cases by equipping teams with nationally recognized skills and best practices. Kristen Nelson previously worked at the Public Defender Service in D.C. (PDS), the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) in Montgomery, AL, and served for six and a half years as a Deputy State Public Defender on the Complex Litigation Team for the Office of the Colorado State Public Defender in Denver, which represents indigent clients at the trial level in complex felony cases, including death penalty cases. She will discuss her career in public defense and capital appeals, and share stories about the cases that have inspired her.
This event will take place on Monday, February 17, from 12-1 pm, in SLB 129. Non-pizza lunch will be served.
