Please join us for our first Professional Development event of the semester: a career panel with lawyers from the Department of Justice's Criminal Fraud Section.
Joining us will be:
Dermot Lynch, a Trial Attorney in the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section. He previously worked in private practice and as a Skadden Fellow at Towards Justice, a Denver-based impact litigation firm, where he represented migrant farmworkers in disputes with their employers. Dermot began his legal career by clerking on the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He is a graduate of Loyola University in Chicago and Yale Law School. Just before law school, Dermot spent three years living in the town of Tacna, Peru, where he taught English with Jesuit Volunteers International. Dermot currently lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife, María.
Mario Nguyen, a Trial Attorney in Criminal Division’s Fraud Section, Adjunct Professor at Texas A&M University School of Law, and graduate of Harvard Law School. A native of Dallas, the child of immigrants, and the first in his family to graduate high school, Mario earned his B.A. from Western Kentucky University. He was selected as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar to attend the Technological Autonomous Institute of Mexico’s M.B.A. program while working at an international social entrepreneurship NGO. In law school, Mario was admitted to The Harvard Legal Aid Bureau where he represented low-income clients in family, employment, disability, immigration, and housing matters. Mario is a skilled investigator and committed litigator with over 200 hours of federal criminal trial experience. He was awarded a national championship in public speaking, named one of the Best Lawyers Under 40 by D Magazine, selected as one of HuffPost’s 40 Latinxs Under 40, and featured in publications like The Wall Street Journal, The Houston Chronicle, and The Texas Lawbook.
