Background and career path: the decision-making process for going in house, industries, risk-taking, and the importance of networking and mentoring;
The role of in house counsel: duties and responsibilities, managing uncertainty, risk and different constituents, skill sets, required qualities and capabilities, organizational hierarchy vs. law firm, corporate responsibility and ESG, and diversity and inclusion;

Lindsay Breedlove is North American Brand Counsel at Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical, a rare and ultra-rare disease biotechnology company, where she helps the company navigate risks associated with developing and promoting drug products, ensuring patient access, supporting scientific exchange, and partnering with patient advocacy organizations. Before joining Ultragenyx, Lindsay was a partner at Troutman Pepper (formerly Pepper Hamilton), in Philadelphia, PA. There, she provided advice to and litigated on behalf of clients in the health care and life sciences industries. In particular, she focused on promotional and commercial risks, and developed expertise in competition-related issues, including with respect to joint ventures and licensing arrangements.
