Open to the Yale Community

The Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy invites you to a discussion with Yale Law School Visiting Lecturer and Ropes & Gray Partner Mark Barnes ’84, who has litigated several recent major cases concerning significant cuts to and restrictions on federal research funding to universities and academic medical centers. Join us for a wide-ranging discussion about the law and policy of federal funding to private entities like universities, considered in both present and historical context.

Mark Barnes—named the 2019 Financial Times “Legal Innovator of the Year”—is a preeminent thinker and adviser to universities, medical centers, health care and life sciences companies, and investors. He has served in numerous health care law, business, and policy roles, including as subcommittee chair of the HHS Secretary’s Advisory Committee on Human Subjects Protections, as executive vice-president of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and in senior appointed positions in the New York City and New York State Departments of Health.

Space is limited. RSVP required. There will be a wait list if demand is high.
