This workshop will be the first of three workshops on financial modeling offered this spring term. In this workshop, we will cover Business Case Modeling:
Designing a Model using "pen and paper":
- What is a model? What question is the model meant to answer?
- Introduce the business case modeling case study
- Output-first design methodology
- Build a model design tree showing inputs, calculations and outputs
Modeling with Excel:
- Best practice modeling rules and design techniques
- Input, calculation and output design philosophy
- Model design (e.g. one sheet vs. multi sheet)
- Model documentation
- Stress testing
This workshop is part of The Tsai Leadership Program’s Financial Literacy Workshops taught by Training the Street. The workshop will be taught by Alex Lue, a former Merrill Lynch investment banker and Stanford Law School graduate, from Training the Street.
A light breakfast will be provided. Lunch will be provided at the conclusion of the workshops. The Financial Literacy Workshop Series is open to YLS students only.
