Description

Do you trust the cloud with your data and communication? FreedomBox is a secure, privacy-respecting replacement that you can run at home. In this workshop, we'll show you how to run FreedomBox on inexpensive mini-computers such as the Raspberry Pi. These devices can act as your own private cloud, allow you to share files online, and even act as your bridge to the Tor anonymity network. We'll talk about the FreedomBox implementation at Yale Law School and its potential to empower private and secure communication on-campus. Finally, we'll demonstrate how easy it is to set up a virtual machine on your own laptop to try FreedomBox without any new hardware at all.  Please bring your laptops and mobile devices.
