Vijaya Ramachandran is the Director for Energy and Development at The Breakthrough Institute. Her research focuses on energy infrastructure and its role in alleviating poverty. Vijaya has worked at the World Bank, the United Nations, and the Center for Global Development, mostly focusing on economic development in Sub Saharan Africa. Her work has been published in Foreign Policy, Nature, and other journals, and has been cited by media outlets including the Economist, National Public Radio, and the Guardian. She has a PhD in Business Economics from Harvard University.
