The Tsai Leadership Program invites you to lunch with Peter Stern ’97, former Vice President of Services at Apple.

During his time at Apple, Peter oversaw the businesses of Apple TV+, iCloud, Apple News, Apple Books, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, and Apple One. He was also the Chief Marketing Officer for Services, which includes the businesses above plus the App Store, Apple Card, Apple Pay, Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, Apple Maps, and others. Stern also managed Apple’s ad businesses from 2017 to 2021, where he led the category to dramatic growth, and managed the monetization of Safari. He was the driving force behind the launch of most of Apple’s portfolio of services over the past few years, including Apple TV+, Apple News+, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, and Apple One.

Before joining Apple in 2016, Stern was Time Warner Cable’s EVP & Chief Product, People & Strategy Officer, operating in an unusual role where he combined HR, strategy, corporate development, and product leadership as part of a small executive team that delivered industry-leading investor returns. He began his career at McKinsey & Co., where he was an Associate Principal and helped lead the Technology and Media practices.

Stern received a J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was the Case Notes editor of the Yale Law Journal and author of the book Connecticut Prisoners’ Rights, and became a member of both the New York and Connecticut bars.  He has a B.A. Magna Cum Laude from Harvard University in a dual major of Music and English. He has been awarded over 30 patents for foundational inventions such as TV Everywhere and Internet Do Not Track.
