Hello from the Lowenstein Project!

Please come join us to learn about the Lowenstein Project and how you can get involved in international human rights work here at Yale.

The Lowenstein Project is an extracurricular human rights group based at Yale Law School that collaborates with students from all schools at Yale to work on human rights projects with outside partner organizations. We are excited to have another semester of exciting human rights projects lined up and we are looking for interested students to sign up and contribute! While historically many of the students who sign up are 1Ls, we also welcome students from all years who want to work on human rights issues outside of their classes or clinics! Students from other graduate schools and the college are also encouraged to join us.

We have a great list of projects coming together for this semester. Partners include the ACLU Human Rights Program, the Special Rapporteur on Human Rights for Myanmar, and the Centre for Reproductive Rights, amongst many others. We have partners/projects from Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the US, on a range of subjects from US Coast Guard immigrant detention policies to reproductive rights to environmental justice. There are ample opportunities to get involved, so please do join us to hear more.

We will be hosting an info session on Thursday, September 8th at 6:00PM in Room 122 of SLB. The session will cover important information about how the projects are organized, what projects are being offered, and the type of work to expect. Given that the semester will begin to fly by, it is important that students come to the information session so that everyone is on the same page from the outset. The session is mandatory for participating in the projects. If, for some reason, you cannot make the event, please get in touch with one of the student directors so that we can make sure you get the necessary information prior to signing up for a project.
