Join the Yale Law Democrats and the Yale Urban Law & Policy Society for a conversation with Justin Elicker about New Haven politics and policy. Justin will discuss his own career in local government and share his perspective on a range of policy issues, leaving time for audience Q&A. Non-pizza lunch (with vegetarian & vegan options) will be served.

About Justin Elicker: Justin served for four years on the New Haven Board of Alders. His priorities as an Alder included: fighting for stronger tenant protections against predatory and absentee landlords; fostering more positive community-police interactions; implementing neighborhood and economic development improvements; promoting protections for gender identity; and calling for government transparency and smart governance. Justin is currently a candidate in the Democratic primary for Mayor of New Haven. From 2014 to 2019, Justin served as the executive director of the New Haven Land Trust, a non-profit dedicated to land conservation, community gardening, and environmental education. Under his leadership, the Land Trust has launched new programs to address systemic injustices in New Haven, including a youth jobs training program and a sailing and coastal exploration summer camp. Justin grew up in Connecticut. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Yale School of Management and a Masters in Environmental Management from the Yale School of Forestry. He served for three years as an adjunct professor of education policy at Southern Connecticut State University.
