If you are a 3L interested in pursuing public interest law after graduation, sign up to discuss this new two-year public interest litigation fellowship.

SJLF is a startup nonprofit driven by a dual mission: To train the next generation of civil rights lawyers, and to bring precedent-setting trial cases challenging abuses in the carceral system and the effects of that system on economic justice, housing security, and voting rights. To that end, the foundation is offering exclusive two-year fellowships to graduates of Yale, Columbia, and Howard law schools this year and to graduates of Northwestern, Stanford, and UCLA law schools next year. SJLF is committed to intensive training and mentoring of their fellows. The fellows will work closely with leading trial litigators and community partners to develop and pursue impactful cases in under-resourced areas of California and around the country on behalf of vulnerable community, especially immigrants, LGBTQ+ members, and Native Americans. CDO is pleased to host SJLF's inaugural Executive Director, Shubhra Shivpuri, as Mentor in Residence on September 16. 3Ls interested in "impactful, precedent-setting cases", "economic and social justice and equity", and public interest fellowships is invited to sign up for a 20-minute one-on-one meeting. Before joining SJLF, Ms. Shivpuri served as Deputy Attorney General for the Civil Rights Enforcement Section at the California Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General. She looks forward to meeting with students interested in public-interest careers and with 3Ls interested in the Hueston Hennigan Social Justice Fellowship. Ms. Shivpuri specifically invites students from diverse backgrounds to sign up for a meeting slot.
