Michelle Leighton, Women Migrant Workers: Valuing their Contributions and Eliminating Discrimination

Michelle Leighton is a former diplomat, Chief of the Labour Migration Branch for the International Labour Organization, ILO (2013-2023). She led the ILO’s global program on labor migration and human mobility which developed policy and delivered capacity building to improve protections for migrant workers and refugees.  She oversaw the Office adoption of tripartite labour standards and guidance, and support to governments, business and trade unions across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East. She was appointed and served seven years as an expert on the UNFCCC WIM Task Force on Displacement, and was a member of the WEF Global Agenda Council on Migration, and University of Pennsylvania Perry World House Fellow.
