Note: this is a three-session workshop meeting during the following times:

-March 15 – 9:00a-12:00p
-March 16 – 9:00a-12:00p

About the Workshops:
Negotiation for Lawyers is a three-day experiential workshop taught by Professor Alexandra Carter from Columbia Law School. During the first day, Professor Carter will give participants a new framework to use in thinking about and practicing negotiation – one they can layer over any legal, judicial or academic role they may pursue in their careers. On day two, participants will deepen their study of negotiation dynamics, including ways in which culture and conflict history impact the way parties show up to the negotiation table. The workshop concludes on day three with an introduction to multi-party and facilitated negotiation. Each day will involve experiential exercises that allow participants to learn through practice.

About the Instructor:
Alexandra Carter is a clinical professor at Columbia Law School, where she teaches conflict resolution and is the Director of the Mediation Clinic. She is a world-renowned negotiation trainer for the United Nations, Fortune 500 companies, civil rights agencies, and more. In 2019, Alex was awarded the Columbia University Presidential Award for Outstanding Teaching, Columbia University’s highest teaching honor. Her first book, Ask for More: Ten Questions to Negotiate Anything, became an instant Wall Street Journal bestseller – the first negotiation book solo-authored by a woman to make that list.

The workshops are limited to 24 attendees in each morning or afternoon session. Should demand exceed capacity for certain date and time slots, we will use a random generator to select participants.
