Nicole Elizabeth Ramos is an attorney, movement strategist, and expert on U.S. border policies and the right to seek asylum. She is a co-founder of the binational nonprofit Al Otro Lado, which serves thousands of migrants and asylum seekers annually, and directs its Border Rights Project. With over 15 years of legal and policy experience, she has led federal litigation and advocacy campaigns challenging policies that endanger asylum seekers, and has developed humanitarian and legal orientation programs at the U.S.–Mexico border. Ms. Ramos regularly advocates before international human rights bodies, lectures at universities and law schools on U.S. border enforcement, serves as an adjunct professor at Temple University Beasley School of Law, and consults on public health research on the impacts of restrictive border policies on pregnant asylum seekers and migrant children.
