Join us for an information session about the Rebellious Lawyering Conference! (Lunch will be provided.) We are recruiting students to join the planning committee for the Spring 2024 session of the conference.
This conference, which started 30 years ago, is rooted in the spirit of Gerald López’s Rebellious Lawyering (https://rebelliouslawyeringinstitute.org/what-is-rebellious-lawyering/), and seeks to build a community dedicated to challenging the hierarchies of race, wealth, gender, and expertise within legal practice, organizing spaces, and academia. It is one of the largest student-run public interest conferences in the country and has influenced an entire generation of attorneys, civil rights leaders, social justice activists, and educators in service of liberation movements.
This year’s planning committee will play an integral role in designing the upcoming session of the conference and ensuring that the important tradition of Rebellious Lawyering lives on at YLS. Students of all class years are welcome to participate.
You can find more information on the conference’s website (https://reblaw.yale.edu/). Past speakers have included Gerald Lopez, Bryan Stevenson, Benita Veliz, Robin Steinberg, Vincent Warren, Jaribu Hill, Kent Wong, Kimberlé Crenshaw, sujatha baliga, Angela Harris, and Natali Segovia.
