THE SUPREME COURT IN CRISIS: Structural Reform for a Broken Institution (Session 1)

With Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s death and the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to replace her, Americans have begun to debate the institutional limitations of the Supreme Court more seriously than in nearly a century. This two-part symposium brings together national academic experts to clarify the terms and stakes of the current debate. The first session on October 13 takes up the constraints and possibilities of the current political context today, and the proper criteria for evaluating reform proposals. The second session on November 19 compares and contrasts some of the most-discussed options for reform, both personnel expansion and alternatives to it. Registration is required for both events.
