Do you want to get involved this semester with real work in the New Haven community? Come to the Temporary Restraining Order Project information session Tuesday, September 10 from 12:10-1:00pm in Baker 116. There will be non-pizza lunch!
The TRO Project staffs an office at the New Haven Courthouse every weekday starting in October. Law students volunteer to help clients fill out their restraining order applications, which involves a surprisingly complicated set of forms. Don't worry if you know nothing about restraining orders -- we will train you!
The TRO Project is one of the few opportunities for 1Ls to do direct service work and help out in a courthouse! Your work can also meaningfully help members of the New Haven community who experience domestic violence. LLMs and transfers are welcome to join, as are 2Ls and 3Ls looking for a new way to get involved in New Haven. All volunteer hours count towards your bar hours.
