Thurman Arnold Project Introductory Meeting

We are excited to announce that the introductory meeting for the Thurman Arnold Project (TAP) will be held on Monday, September 12 at 12pm in SLB 122. We will serve Nica's sandwiches and coffee from Blue State.

TAP is an intellectual gathering point for academics, policymakers, and students to discuss and develop antitrust and competition policy. TAP is led by Fiona Scott Morton, the Theodore Nierenberg Professor of Economics at the Yale School of Management and former chief economist for the Antitrust Division of the DOJ.

Echoes of Attica - Performance and Discussion

On Monday, September 12, 2022, the Liman Center will co-host Echoes of Attica – a music/theater performance about the 1971 prison uprising and its aftermath, featuring original songs written and performed by Philadelphia rap poet and activist BL Shirelle and the gospel singer Simply Naomi. Based on court transcripts, recently released FBI files, and interviews with eyewitnesses, the show will be introduced by Carlos Roche – who survived the assault at Attica – and feature a post-performance panel discussion about U.S. prisons, past and present. The show is free and all are welcome.

And emerging technologies demand that we think about old rights in new ways: When biotechnology is used to change genetic code, whose rights might be violated?
