Judge Ralph K. Winter Lecture: Douglas G. Baird

Douglas G. Baird presented the Judge Ralph K. Winter Lecture titled “Two Stories of Corporate Governance” on April 6, 2026. Baird is the Harry A. Bigelow Distinguished Service Professor of Law at the University of Chicago Law School and Chair of the National Bankruptcy Conference.

His book on the history of the law of corporate reorganizations, “The Unwritten Law of Corporate Reorganizations,” appeared in 2022. Other books include “Reconstructing Contracts” and “Game Theory and the Law.” Baird’s one-volume overview of U.S. bankruptcy law, “Elements of Bankruptcy,” is now in its seventh edition.
