Troubleshooting Mac Printing
Hold for Authentication Error
If you see a printer icon with a yellow warning triangle, and when you open your print queue you see your job listed with a "Hold for Authentication" error, this means your print job was sent with invalid credentials. Most likely this has occurred because you have changed your NetID password, and the old password was stored in your Keychain.
To resolve this issue:
- Select the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner, then type Keychain and open Keychain Access.
- In the search box in the keychain, enter blueprint. This will filter your list and you should see BluePrint_BW.
- Double click to open, confirm your account is yale\NetID, then click the checkbox next to Show password.
- You will be asked to enter your computer password. Once you do so, your password will appear on the screen.
- You can then enter your new NetID password in the box, then hit Save Changes.
- Close the box, then close Keychain Access. Your password will now be updated.
- You will now need to re-send your print jobs. Click the X next to any jobs with the Hold for Authentication error as they will not print.

Papercut client download and instructions
On a Windows machine, you may find that the PaperCut client logs in as your computer username, as opposed to your NetID. To fix this issue:
Open the PaperCut directory and look for a file called config.properties.
With a text editor, open the file and add the line:
user=NetID
where NetID is your NetID.
Save the file, then restart the PaperCut client. It should now log in with your NetID.

If you require additional funds for non-coursework related printing, you may add personal funds. You may request a refund from YPPS of any unused personal funds after graduation. Please note to access this site you must be on campus or connected to the VPN.
In general, your print account is only charged when a job completes printing. However, there are times that you may have an issue (e.g., print quality) where you will need to request a refund from YPPS. Please note to access this site you must be on campus or connected to the VPN.
