Deborah L. Paul is a Visiting Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School and a Partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. Paul’s areas of practice span all tax aspects of domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, spinoffs, and financial instruments transactions. In 2019, she served as Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Tax Section. Paul publishes and speaks widely, including at such forums as the Practising Law Institute and the New York State Bar Association. She has been recognized as a leading tax lawyer by Chambers USA, Super Lawyers, and Who’s Who Legal, among other publications. Paul clerked for Chancellor William T. Allen of the Delaware Court of Chancery. A Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School, Paul previously taught at New York University School of Law and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Earlier in her career, she practiced as an Associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore before joining Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz as an Associate in 1997. She holds an LL.M. in Tax from New York University School of Law, a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and an A.B. from Harvard College.
