Madiha Zahrah Choksi holds a PhD in Computing and Information Science from Cornell Tech, with a minor in Law. Her research examines how online communities build and sustain shared governance infrastructure, working at the intersection of privacy, open-source licensing, and collective self-governance. Her doctoral work was advised by Helen Nissenbaum and James Grimmelmann.
She is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Data Science Institute at Columbia University. Her prior experience includes legal and regulatory work as a Freedom of Information Specialist with the Government of Ontario. She holds additional degrees from Columbia University and the University of Toronto.
