Olivia G. Hoffman is a Lecturer in Legal Practice at Yale Law School. Most recently, she served as Senior Counsel at Betterment, a financial services technology company, where she counseled the business on regulatory issues relating to the development of consumer financial products. Additionally, she was an Adjunct Professor of Legal Writing at Fordham University School of Law.

Hoffman began her legal career as a law clerk to Judge William G. Young in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. After that, she was a litigator in the New York office of Jenner & Block LLP, where her practice focused on complex commercial matters. She has extensive experience counseling clients on a variety of high-stakes legal issues and has drafted and argued motions and appeals in state and federal court.

Hoffman earned her B.A. in International Relations from Brown University and her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she graduated cum laude and received the Dean’s Award for Community Leadership. She served as a Managing Editor of the Harvard Civil Rights-Civil Liberties Law Review and Vice President of the Board of Student Advisers, and assisted with the drafting of a leading treatise on class action litigation.
