Max Pushkin

Max Pushkin is a 2L at Yale Law School interested in international humanitarian law, human rights law, and international legal structures more broadly. He graduated from Brown University in 2022 with a BA in International & Public Affairs. While at Brown, he worked with the International Rescue Committee on refugee resettlement and placement, ultimately supporting newly-arrived Afghan refugees following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. After graduating, Max was awarded a Marshall Scholarship, through which he earned master’s degrees in International Security Studies at the University of St Andrews and in Global Governance and Diplomacy at the University of Oxford. His research at both institutions focused on the intersection of humanitarianism, security politics, and international law. Following his 1L year at Yale, he interned with the International Committee of the Red Cross’s Legal Advisory Service in Geneva, working to enhance national implementation of international humanitarian law. At Yale, Max is Co-President of the Yale Society of International Law, an Articles Editor for the Yale Journal of International Law, a member of the Peter Gruber Rule of Law Clinic, and Co-Captain of the renowned Bad News Barristers softball team.
