Cassie Hazelip (she/her) is a Visiting Lecturer in Law, Associate Research Scholar in Law, and a Mental Health Justice Clinic Fellow at Yale Law School. Hazelip represented parents in family court for more than five years, first as an intern with Neighborhood Defender Service of Harlem and Brooklyn Defender Services, then as a staff attorney and, later, as a supervisor, in the Family Defense Practice at the Bronx Defenders. While in law school, she was on Law Review, worked with people seeking public benefits and parole, and interned with the Mental Hygiene Legal Service at Manhattan Psychiatric Center and the Knox County Public Defender’s Community Law Office. Prior to pursuing a career in legal justice, she was a Peace Corps Volunteer and an outreach worker for people experiencing street homelessness.
