Mary O’Lone is a visiting clinical lecturer in law at Yale Law School, where she leads the Collaborative Clinic for Nonprofit Viability (CCNV), part of the Environmental Justice Law and Advocacy Clinic at the Law School. The clinic collaborates with Howard University School of Law, legal service providers, and environmental justice and indigenous organizations.
Prior to joining CCNV, O’Lone worked at the U. S. Environmental Protection for almost 30 years, providing legal counseling and advice in EPA’s Office of General Counsel on issues arising under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Executive Order 12898 on Environmental Justice. She also served as acting deputy director of EPA’s Office of Civil Rights, as the director of the Environmental Justice Project for the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and as an agency representative to the Office of the Vice President and the White House Office on Environmental Policy.
O’Lone has won numerous awards and medals for service to the EPA and has been invited to speak at the National Association of Attorneys General; the Environmental Law Institute; and the American Bar Association’s Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Law Section; among others.
