Maureen A. Murphy is a Visiting Clinical Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School and an Assistant Public Defender in New Haven for the State of Connecticut’s Division of Public Defender Services.  She has represented indigent criminal defendants in every stage of their proceedings, from arraignment hearings to jury trial verdicts. Prior to her appointment in New Haven, she held the same role in the Meriden and Windham Judicial District public defender offices. She previously served as a legal intern for the Office of the Connecticut Attorney General’s Child Protection Department and as a Temporary Assistant Clerk in the Hartford Judicial District of the Connecticut Superior Court. Before her legal career, Murphy performed as a freelance musician. She holds a J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law and a B.M. from the University of North Texas College of Music.
