Andrei Harwell

Andrei Harwell is a Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School and a Senior Critic at the Yale School of Architecture, where he directs the Yale Urban Design Workshop (YUDW). Among other responsibilities, Harwell is responsible for YUDW’s long-range strategic planning, office management, and project acquisition and contracts. His scholarship and practice center architecture as a response to contemporary challenges faced by cities, towns, and regions in the U.S. and across the world. A Member of The American Institute of Architects, Harwell has maintained an independent practice since 2003. He previously served as Project Architect and CAD Manager at Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates. Harwell, a Registered Architect in Connecticut and New York, has held a certificate from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards since 2010, and has been a LEED Accredited Professional since 2009. He has contributed to several professional publications, including Two Sides of the Border: Reimagining the Region and Urban Integrations: Bishopsgate Goods Yard. Harwell received a B.Arch. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1998 and an M.Arch. from Yale University in 2006.
