Brian Highsmith is a Visiting Lecturer in Law at Yale Law School and a doctoral candidate in Government and Social Policy at Harvard University. He has previously held teaching appointments at Harvard Law School and Princeton’s School of Public and International Affairs. Highsmith’s research interests include local government law, political economy, economic inequality, corporate power, and democratic theory. From 2017 to 2019, Highsmith worked as a staff attorney (and Skadden fellow) at the National Consumer Law Center. He has advised on economic policy in various roles in DC, including in President Obama’s National Economic Council, the office of Sen. Cory Booker, and at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. He holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and a B.A. from Furman University.
