Caitlin Petre is an Assistant Professor in the School of Communication & Information at Rutgers University. Her research examines the social dimensions of digital analytics, with a focus on the production, interpretation, and use of metrics in the news industry. Her research report on the role of metrics in digital media, The Traffic Factories, was published by Columbia University's Tow Center for Digital Journalism, where she served as a research fellow. Prior to joining Rutgers, Caitlin was a postdoctoral associate and resident fellow at the Information Society Project at Yale Law School. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Sociology from New York University and B.A. in philosophy from Wesleyan University.
