Nan Yang is a research fellow at the Institute of American Studies, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). He is also an associate professor at the School of International Politics and Economics, University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, where his research and teaching focus on data politics, data governance and protection, and China-U.S. relations. He is the author of The Inertia of Hegemony: National Security Council and U.S. International Strategy (Social Science Academic Press, 2022) and has published more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed academic journals. He engages with government officials, entrepreneurs, media influencers, and academic experts in the course of his work. At the Paul Tsai China Center, he will undertake a research project on the de-securitization of data governance and transfers in the context of U.S.-China relations.
