Tobias Wasser is a Clinical Associate Professor (Adjunct) of Law at Yale Law School and an Associate Professor (Adjunct) of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine. Wasser is a clinician-educator whose scholarly work focuses on research, education, and leadership at the intersections of forensic and public-sector mental health systems. He currently serves as the Chair of Psychiatry at Quinnipiac University's Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine and Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health for Hartford Healthcare's Fairfield Region.

In recent years, Wasser has received the Irma Bland Award for Excellence in Teaching Residents (2023) and the Carol Davis Ethics Award (2022) from the American Psychiatric Association. He was also awarded the Best Teacher in a Fellowship Program Award in 2022 by the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law (AAPL), where he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the AAPL Institute for Education and Research. A highly sought-after speaker and journal contributor, Wasser currently sits on the editorial board of journals Academic Psychiatry and Psychiatric Annals, as well as serves as Associate Editor for the World Journal of Psychiatry. He has previously served as President of the American Association of Psychiatric Administration and Leadership.

Wasser earned his B.A. at Wesleyan University and his M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed residency training and two fellowships, in Forensics and Public Psychiatry respectively, at the Yale School of Medicine. Wasser holds board certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in general and forensic psychiatry.
