Construction continues at Baker Hall—a new academic, social, and residential hub for Yale Law School—with notable upgrades to both the interior and exterior of the building well underway.

Construction firm A/Z Corporation has been at work inside framing Baker Hall’s residential units. Model units will be completed by the beginning of February, while the remaining units are nearly ready for finishes. Structural steel installation is also in progress on the building’s lower floors, which will feature a two-story lecture hall, a three-tiered student center, and community study and recreation areas.

Exterior improvements include work on the building’s brick façade and new concrete and other sitework on the Baker Hall grounds. In February, new windows will be installed.

The Baker Hall project, which began in July 2017, is slated for completion on August 2, 2018.

When finished, it will mark the first expansion of the Law School’s physical footprint since the construction of Sterling Law Building in 1931. In addition to new academic, social, and programmatic space, Baker Hall will also reintroduce residential life back to Yale Law School.

The purchase and construction of Baker Hall was made possible through a $60 million fundraising campaign, led by a $25 million gift from Christina and Robert C. Baker ’56 B.A., ’59 LL.B., for whom the 137,000-square-foot building will be named.
