President Salovey Remembers Elga Wasserman ’76, Pioneer for Gender Equity

In his "Notes from Woodbridge Hall" column, President Salovey voiced his admiration for Elga Wasserman ’76, who helped bring coeducation to Yale, and who passed away earlier this month.

Following a conference organized by YaleWomen and the Women Faculty Forum, Salovey reflected on the successes of the coeducation movement at Yale. The contributions of Wasserman, who handled much of the transition for the first classes of women at Yale College, were particularly profound: "It is no exaggeration to say that she paved the way for generations of Yale women."
