Robert Litt, National Intelligence General Counsel, Visits Law School

The Yale Law School Center for Global Legal Challenges (GLC) hosted Robert Litt ’76, General Counsel of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), for a series of discussions with students and faculty. Mr. Litt discussed recent controversies surrounding the NSA’s bulk data collection, encryption technology, and the Fourth Amendment, as well as general perspectives on public service and government lawyering.

Mr. Litt currently serves as the General Counsel of ODNI. His government service includes six years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and another six years at the Department of Justice as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General and then Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General in the Criminal Division. Before this most recent position, Mr. Litt was a partner at the law firm Arnold & Porter. He graduated with a B.A. from Harvard College and has an M.A. and J.D. from Yale.
