Solomon Center Announces Fellowship Opportunities

The Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy at Yale Law School has recently announced two fellowship opportunities to advance the Center’s cutting-edge scholarship, advocacy, and Medical-Legal Partnerships.

The Solomon Center seeks to hire a quantitative research associate to spearhead an empirical evaluation of the Center’s Medical Legal Partnerships (MLPs), which embed legal services into health care settings, addressing patients’ health-harming civil legal needs in convenient and familiar environments. The Solomon Center has been a pioneer in developing or supporting New Haven’s five MLP programs and now seeks to address critical gap in the MLP-related literature: the lack of empirical research on the benefits of the legal component of MLP programs. The research associate will engage extensively with lawyers, doctors, community partners, students, and patients to design and implement a rigorous empirical study of New Haven’s MLP programs. The fellow will also draft scholarly articles based on the findings of study. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quantitative study design, data collection, and statistical analysis along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The Center also seeks a recent J.D. to serve as a senior fellow beginning in the summer or fall of 2019. The fellow will work closely with the Solomon Center’s directors and staff to support all aspects of the Center’s substantive work. The fellow will also be permitted to pursue his or her own legal scholarship and clinical or policy projects and may participate and teach within the Center’s MLP program. The one- or two-year fellowship is an ideal fit for a recent J.D. recipient interested in a career in legal academia; all previous fellows in this role have gone on to obtain tenure-track teaching positions following their fellowships.
