12:10PM - 1:00PM
Levinson Auditorium
Open to the Yale Community

Please join President Laurent Fabius, Constitutional Council of France, with a welcome by The Honorable Stephen Breyer, Supreme Court of the U.S., for a discussion on the Paris Agreement and the future of climate action on Thursday, September 15 at 12:10 in the Auditorium. This event is co-hosted by the Yale Environmental Dialogue, the Yale School of the Environment, and the Gruber Program’s Global Constitutionalism Seminar at Yale Law School.

Laurent Fabius, who since 2016 has served as the President of the Constitutional Council of France, will reflect on the impact of the Paris Agreement. In 2015, as President of the Conference of Parties 2021, he played a crucial role in the negotiations that led to that agreement, the first universal agreement to fight against climate change.

The Honorable Stephen Breyer is a retired Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, and a Harvard Law professor who has written extensively about administrative law, economic regulation, and the U.S. Constitution. His books include Active Liberty (2005), Making Our Democracy Work: A Judge's View (2010), The Court and the World (2015), and The Authority of the Court and the Peril of Politics (2021).

Professor Gerald Torres, Professor of Environmental Justice and Professor of Law, Yale School of the Environment and Yale Law School, will moderate the session. A pioneer in the field of environmental law, Torres has spent his career examining the intrinsic connections between the environment, agricultural and food systems, and social justice. His research into how race and ethnicity impact environmental policy has been influential in the emergence and evolution of the field of environmental justice.

Your RSVP is requested, if possible, by Tuesday, September 13, but will not be required to attend the event. You can RSVP at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/climate-change-progress-the-path-beyond-the-paris-agreement-tickets-414997778527.
