Acclaimed authors Elyn Saks ’86 and Andrew Solomon will give a dean's lecture, speaking about their books: The Center Cannot Hold: Ethical Dimensions of My Journey through Madness by Saks and The Noonday Demon: An Atlas of Depression by Solomon.
Andrew Solomon is a writer and lecturer on politics, culture, and psychology, a Professor of Clinical Psychology at Columbia University Medical Center, and President of PEN American Center. He is a frequent contributor to NPR, the New Yorker, and The New York Times.
Elyn Saks is Associate Dean and Professor of Law, Psychology, and the Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California Gould Law School. She is also a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship winner. Her TED talk from 2012 has more than 2.5 million views.
The talk will be followed by a reception in the Alumni Reading Room from 6:00-6:45.
