The Center for Global Legal Challenges (GLC), in partnership with the ICRC, will be hosting a two-day workshop on International Humanitarian Law (IHL). The course, which will take part on September 30 and October 1, aims to provide participants with a basic introduction to IHL and the law of armed conflict.
Over the course of the two days, leading experts from the ICRC, government, and academia will present on a variety of topics within IHL, including targeting and detention, state responsibility, and the intersection of humanitarian haw and human rights. The workshop will also provide opportunities for small group discussions and introduce students to real-life situations and decisions faced by lawyers in the government.
GLC will also be welcoming a number of students from law schools in the area, and all host a lunchtime panel on IHL as it relates to Syria and the current conflict unfolding in the region.
