Gerald Tanyi ’92 (LL.M.), ’94 (J.S.D.) is Chief Counsel at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group. Prior to the World Bank Group, Gerald worked at the New York and Paris offices of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and has also worked at the Swiss private banking firm of Lombard, Odier & Cie. Between 2003 and 2006, in addition to his role at the World Bank Group, Gerald was Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center where he taught Infrastructure Finance. With over 30 years of experience in the areas of corporate finance, international project finance and developmental finance, Gerald has structured hundreds of projects globally. Gerald is a published author and a regular speaker at international conferences on developmental finance. Gerald has frequently been described as a “lawyer’s lawyer” and “passionate deal maker” and there is nothing Gerald enjoys more than sitting on the negotiating table.
